I'm an English teacher (cringe). The word "contaminates" is a verb. The word "contaminants" is noun and is the correct word in the sense that it is meant.
Wildly interesting article. Now, if it is not propaganda. . . and may not be. . .
I might take the ads down since the traffic isn't past the tipping point yet. I do, however, consider "looking" at the sorts of ads that Google places on each article as amazingly telling and amusing -- even more than whether or now anybody clicks on them -- don't you?

and make money
if they make money then keep them. If the money is pennies, then I say drop them. The value of a 'clean-site' without ads could be greater.
