Has anyone else started watching—or watched—The Spy on Netflix. I feel like SBC did an amazing job. He's got acting chops. And so does everyone else in the show.
The Spy is an English-language French espionage thriller television miniseries written and directed by Israeli director Gideon Raff and Max Perry based on the life of Israel's top Mossad spy Eli Cohen in Syria, portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen.
It looks and feels realistic but is surely a massive hagiography. That said, I can't stop watching and have gotten attached to all the characters. It's beautifully-shot and sumptuous and based on real-life events. My first takeaway is how depended on a lot of hard work, fearlessness, a lack of flinching, and dumb luck and training spycraft is. And we all know that anyone who serves a business or their country generally is a terrible husband and father, in the end. So, that's a trope. But I love the way the family responds. I haven't finished it yet but I am really looking forward to watching the entire first season and hoping that it'll get a season two (can it? Where does the story end?)

Here's SBC next to the real Israeli spy.... pretty great look-alike:
