In the face of the questions, Federal Bureau of Investigation officials have decided to make their first detailed public presentation next week on the forensic science used to trace the anthrax used in the 2001 attacks to a flask kept in a refrigerator in Dr. Ivins’s laboratory at Fort Detrick, in Maryland. Many scientists are awaiting those details because so far, they say, the F.B.I. has failed to make a conclusive case.

The scientific evidence I'd like to see is how the liquid anthrax in the jar in the frig at USAMRIID turned into the super-fine super-pure coated powder that literally "floated out of the envelope."
Remember that the parent stuff in flask RMR-1029 had been around in DOD and privately-owned facilities since 1997 -- a full 4+ years before the anthrax letters were mailed. The new DNA tests, assuming they are as wonderful as touted, would have shown matches with anthrax in several locations across the country (Dugway, Battelle, etc.). Which of those other locations had persons with the equipment, know-how, and experience to make the "weaponized" anthrax? How much do you want to bet that that information will not be forthcoming when the FBI makes its "detailed public presentation" this week?
